Writer Overnighter

Who: Barrelhouse, The Writer’s Center, and You

What: Write. Read. Make new literary-minded friends. Opportunities to attend a workshop, gain insights from a panel of editors, and participate in an open mic. Likely, junk food. Definitely, My Cousin Vinny. All optional!

Where: The Writer’s Center, 4508 Walsh Street, Bethesda, MD 20815

When: Saturday, March 21, 2020, 4pm to Sunday, March 22, 2020, 10am

Why: We’re asking ourselves the same thing.

How much: $50 for the whole shebang, including meals and optional programming. Floor sleeping in a crowd not your thing? Go for our Pumpkin Price ($45) if you plan to head to your comfy bed before midnight.

Timing:

  • Application deadline is February 15, 2020.
  • Decisions will be sent by February 21, 2020

Details:

  • Dinner and a light breakfast will be provided, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
  • No showers, sorry!
  • There will be rooms for staying awake and chatting, and rooms for floor-sleeping. We’ll offer one room for men (cis and gender-nonconforming), one for women (same), and one coed. Individual accommodations aren’t available.
  • Air mattresses welcomed. Arguably, recommended.

Parking: Weekend parking in the lot across from The Writer’s Center is free. The Bethesda Metro stop is 4/10 mile away.

Safety:

  • The Writer’s Center and Barrelhouse reserve the right to decline and rescind invitations, or request the departure of a participant at any time should an issue of safety arise. Safety is our first priority, and aggressive, dangerous, or hateful behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Accepted participants are expected to sign a Code of Conduct and Liability Waiver.
