Writing a Middle Grade/Young Adult Novel

Days: 7 Mondays
Time: 7:15-9:00 PM
Dates: 2/19/2018– 4/2/2018
Location: Bethesda
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Genre(s): Adults Writing for Children

Workshop Leader: Eva Langston
Have you started writing a YA or Middle Grade novel and need some guidance and support? Whether you are just writing your first chapters, finding yourself stuck halfway through, or hoping to revise a first draft, this class is for you. You will share pages of your manuscript and both give and receive constructive feedback. We will also discuss elements of craft, study examples from published YA and Middle Grade books, and do short writing exercises that can be applied to your work-in-progress. By the end of the workshop, you will have written more of your novel, improved the pages you already had, and firmed up your ideas on where to go next. (Note that middle grade novels are generally for ages 8 to 12 and young adult novels for ages 13 to 20.)
