Creating Complex Characters

Days: 1 Saturday
Time: 9:30 AM-12:30 PM
Dates: 2/24/2018
Location: Bethesda
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Genre(s): Fiction

Workshop Leader: Lynn Auld Schwartz
What do your characters yearn for? Examine how a character's wants and desires drive key elements of story including narrative, dialogue, conflict, and plot. Short exercises and readings will illustrate ways to identify and depict a character's passion, which is essential to creating a compelling person — someone with whom a reader wants to spend time. Come to strengthen what is memorable about the people who populate your tales, or come ready to create a new character whose story commands attention. This workshop is appropriate for those working on a novel, short story, or memoir.
