(Online) Poetic Forms

Loading Events

In this fun class, we will explore one form of poetry a week through reading poems, and give you a chance to try your own hand at six different forms. Forms will include sonnets, villanelles, sestinas, and odes. Yes, writing poetry is often associated with emotion and spontaneous expression, but it needs scaffolding for that expression. Writing in form is a wonderful way to provide that and stretch the imagination and strengthen your poetic skills. Even if you’ve been writing poetry for a while, a return to form is always helpful. It also means when you know form, you can move beyond to create your own!
