Do you want to keep a colorful chronicle of your upcoming travels? Or enliven your journal-keeping? Or pep up your blog? Or gather rich impressions of the world for essays, reportage, a memoir, or novel? This is a workshop for all those wishing to keep a lively record of their experiences and reflections. We will study excerpts from classic writers and try our hands at the elements of craft that create vivid descriptions of people, places, and life as it is lived. By the end of the workshop, you will know how to keep notebooks rich with diverting conversations, delicious pastries, and bustling landscapes and towns. The text for the workshop will be Sara Mansfield Taber’s book, Chance Particulars: A Writer’s Field Notebook. Bring along a fresh notebook to be filled! Please note: This workshop will meet on Saturday from 10:00-4:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00-12:30 PM.

About Sara Mansfield Taber

Sara Mansfield Taber is author of Chance Particulars: A Writer’s Field Notebook. She has also published the award-winning Born Under an Assumed Name: The Memoir of a Cold War Spy’s Daughter; Dusk on the Campo: A Journey in Patagonia, and Bread of Three Rivers: The Story of a French Loaf.
