Poetic Elements in Prose Writing

In this workshop, participants will look closely at the uses of metaphor, image, and concrete detail, as well as rhythm and inflection, in prose writing (both fiction and nonfiction). This will be an exercise-based class with mini-lectures from the instructor. Participants will receive reading assignments via email before the class begins.

About Alyce Miller

Alyce Miller is the award-winning author of three short story collections, one novel, and a book of nonfiction. She has published more than 250 essays, stories, poems, articles, and book chapters. She taught for 21 years in the graduate creative writing program at Indiana University, Bloomington. More about her at: www.alycemillerwriter.com.
