In this class you will be introduced to the core concepts of the 8-week Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) course that will be given Tuesday evenings at the Writer’s Center from March 17 through May 5. CCT is a compassion-focused form of meditation that was developed at Stanford University over a decade ago by a team of of contemplative scholars, clinical psychologists, and researchers. It is designed to strengthen your innate capacity for compassion, empathy and kindness — toward yourself and others. The 8-week CCT course provides an opportunity to start or deepen a meditation practice in a supportive environment and explore daily, real-world ways of living with greater joy and intention. This introductory session will give participants a chance to ask questions and experience a guided meditation and an in-class exercise similar to those used in the full 8-week course.
