Dr. Adrienne Christian is a Poet & Writer, and Fine Art Photographer.
She is the author of three poetry collections: Worn (2021), A Proper Lover (2017), and 12023 Woodmont Avenue (2013). He poetry, prose, and photographs have been featured in CALYX, phoebe, Prairie Schooner, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Los Angeles Review as The Editor’s Choice, and other magazines and journals. Common themes in her work are love, family, overcoming trauma, and African-American life.
In 2020, Adrienne earned her PhD in English/Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska. In 2011, she earned her MFA in English/Contemporary Poetry from Pacific University. In 2001, she earned her BA in English/19th Century British Literature from the University of Michigan.
Adrienne won the 2007 University of Michigan “Five Under Ten” Young Alumni Recognition Award. In 2016, she was a finalist for The Rita Dove International Poetry Award. In 2020, she won the Common Ground poetry award for her poem “Wedding Dress.” In 2021, she was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
She lives in San Antonio.
About the Book
Worn is a collection of love poems about what people are wearing and why. These poems take the reader through love and longing, and manifest how we all cope and get dressed again after the harsh reality of our world lays us bare.
