Poetry and Prose

Sun, 26 Mar, 2017 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

In her debut novel TreeVolution, Tara Campbell introduces us to a strange new world in which vengeful trees rise up to defend themselves against attackers. Fortunately, it’s a work of science fiction. Campbell is joined by poet W.M. Rivera, whose fourth collection of poems, Café Select, also features art by Miguel Conde.

Tara Campbell has published in the Washington Independent Review of Books, Potomac Review Blog, Hogglepot Journal, Lorelei Signal, Punchnel’s, GlassFire Magazine, the WiFiles, Silverthought Online, Toasted Cake Podcast, Litro Magazine, Luna Station Quarterly, Up Do: Flash Fiction by Women Writers, T. Gene Davis’ Speculative Blog, Master’s Review, Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly and Latchkey Tales, Elementals: Children of Water. Her speculative fiction novel, TreeVolution, was published in November 2016.

W. M. (William McLeod) Rivera is a retired agricultural educator. His academic background includes a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, M.A. from The American University in Washington, D.C, and Ph.D. from Syracuse. He taught agricultural extension and development at the University of Maryland (UMCP) from 1981-2009. He is the author of three previously-published collections of poetry: Buried in the Mind’s Backyard, The Living Clock, and Noise. His work has appeared in various periodicals such as The Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, and The Nation among others, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
