Melanie Figg

 


Melanie Figg has taught poetry to adult learners, children, college students, and prisoners for more than 25 years. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for reading and writing poetry with her students. Figg's awards her poetry include a 2017 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her poems have been published in The Iowa Review, LIT, MARGIE, Colorado Review, and dozens  of other journals. Teaching style: Melanie is an enthusiastic, fun teacher. Her passion for poetry is contagious and she encourages her students with lots of one-on-one feedback. Melanie's students get a poetry workout as she pushes them to stretch themselves and build new muscles—leaving her classes with new skills and new poems and, most of all, a lasting excitement for writing and reading.
