John Morris has taught for many years at The Writer’s Center. He has published fiction, poetry, and criticism in more than 90 magazines in the U.S. and Great Britain. A poetry chapbook, The Musician, Approaching Sleep, is available from Dos Madres Press. His musical project, Mulberry Coach, a collaboration with singer and lyricist Katie Fisher, will release its seventh CD of original songs in 2017. Staring Down the Sun, his first novel, is forthcoming. A passionate advocate for animal rights and a lifelong resident of the Washington, D.C. area, John Morris currently lives in Accokeek, Maryland.

Teaching style: John emphasizes constructive criticism and careful reading of participants' work. All workshoppers are given equal time to present stories, and to respond to their colleagues' work. There is little or no lecturing; all our sessions will be spent on your stories.
