Poets Marcela Sulak and Brandel France de Bravo

The Writer’s Center presents visiting poet Marcela Sulak and Brandel France de Bravo. The reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. Free admission.

Brandel France de Bravo is the author of two books of poetry: Mother, Loose, which won the Accents Publishing chapbook prize in late 2014, and Provenance, winner of the Washington Writers’ Publishing House Prize in 2008. She is co-author of Trees Make the Best Mobiles: Simple Ways to Raise your Child in a Complex World (St. Martin’s) and editor of Mexican Poetry Today: 20/20 Voices (Shearsman Books). Her essays have appeared or are forthcoming in Fourth Genre, Copper Nickel, the Seneca Review, the Bellingham Review, Better Magazine, and Gargoyle.  She has received two artist fellowships and the Larry Neal Award in poetry from the Washington, D.C. Commission on the Arts, and in 2014 was awarded the Goldfarb Family Fund fellowship in creative nonfiction at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

Marcela Sulak's poetry collections include Decency & Immigrant (both from Black Lawrence Press). She's translated four book-length poetry collections from Hebrew, Czech, and French and has co-edited Family Resemblance: An Anthology and Exploration of Eight Hybrid Literary Genres forthcoming in October from Rose Metal Press.  Her essays appear in The Iowa Review, Rattle, and The Los Angeles Review of Books, among others, and she hosts the literary radio show "Israel in Translation" at TLV.1. She directs the Shaindy Rudoff Graduate Program in Creative Writing at Bar-Ilan University.
